Avery turned ONE YEAR OLD on Saturday, May 22, 2010. She had a weekend celebration starting early Saturday morning when her Poppa showed up with gifts from Glennville. She went straight to the McCurdy's on Main gift bag and tore into it. Poppa got her a sweet ballerina doll with a tutu and three books to read.
She was chauffeured around the backyard in her Daddy's red wagon.
After Poppa left around 1:00 p.m., he was replaced by Aunt Jessie, who played with her in the sandbox. Look at how her eyes light up when she sees her :)
Aunt Jessie gave Avery a swimsuit and a Dora doll!
That evening we went to Lake Lanier and ate dinner at Dockside Grill. I'll admit, I did get a spray tan that day and was looking a little bronzed before I showered.
Her Grammy Ewing brought petit four and the restaurant sang Happy Birthday to her.
MMMmmmm....
She couldn't get enough of the sweetness.
She was acting like the crazy girl we know and kept pulling her hair with her filthy hands.
Michael's family with my sister and mom.
She matches the sign:)
After dinner, she loved looking at the fish and geese in the lake.
Peek-a-boo, I see you!
She slept awful that night. Maybe because of the sugar high, or that she went to bed 2 hours late. Who knows! The next day was her birthday party and the weather was perfect! Here are the 'party favors' for the kids who came. Don't worry, they were $4 at Wal-Mart!
Here's her swimsuit birthday cake that matches her invitation. Mrs. Kay Bruner did an amazing job and everyone said it tasted delicious. The beach ball cake to the right was her 'smash cake'.

What a cute expression. I bought this dress and bow over a month ago and have been anxiously waiting for her to wear it.

Moments before the guests arrived, she did a little birthday boogie.
She loves her Aunt...
...and her baby doll!
Here come the guests!!! She greeted everyone kindly and thanked them for coming to her party.
She made sure everyone had something good to eat.
She even took some time to chow down on some watermelon.
And chow down she did!
Mrs. Chris and Sammi came! These are my cheerleading buddies and they LOVE them some Avery.
Another one of her favorite people is Mrs. Leslie! She keeps mommy's hair looking good:)
We can't forget her number one fan, Uncle Sherm. His name is really Rob, and he likes eating Goldfish from Avery's hand!
It's time to open presents! Behind us on the mantle are pictures of Avery from newborn to 11 months.
Her cousin Javier kept walking in front of the camera. She seemed to get a kick out of it.
Everyone told us she would like the wrapping more than the presents. They were right!
Her first Vera Bradley purse! Thanks Bama!
Another baby doll. That girl LOVES her babies.
And she loves Leslie and Rob.
One of the neatest gifts was some of my blog printed out from Michael's Aunt Jeannine. She also did a picture book called Adventures with Avery from her birth to first year!
Time to blow out the candle.
It took her a while to dig in, but she eventually got the rhythm.
Such a lovable baby.
We finally made our way to the backyard for fun in the sun.
We had pools, a slip and slide, and this water ball.
Avery loves her new swing set and playground from Michael's parents and us.
Some of the kids were a little timid to go down our makeshift water slide.
And then some were not. Don't worry, no children were injured in the making of this birthday party.
Even Avery got a turn down the slide.
Whoo hoo! Go Avery Go!
Sista Sista!
Chad and Leslie found the shade. It was over 90 degrees that day.
After all the guests went home, Avery still had some energy to play with her babies.
We can't forget about Cotton!
Our little baby was pooped, but had a great time at her first birthday party. It was really a lot of fun and all the kids (and adults) who came, made it a wonderful party.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVERY!!!
